Ben Shallow and Adrien Nortier’s eponymous label has evolved over a decade. Falling into each other and falling in love while studying, fashion the Anglo-French couple discovered a shared a love of couture, costume and musical theatre.

Starting their careers in bridal and occasion wear, Ben & Adrien naturally progressed into creating custom pieces for friends and bridal clients.

Nortier is a brand that emerged from a creative mentoring project. Emma Marshall, MD of renowned British bridal retailer Miss Bush, connected with Adrien and Ben in 2018 and began networking, offering informal advice and encouragement.

Emma loved the collections, but her advice was to go braver, bolder and lean into each other’s personal and private passions, artisanal references that speak to their shared love of musical theatre, drag, costume and 90s couture.

Their first collection as Nortier, with dresses named after iconic 90s super models, demonstrated their ability to not to simply channel the zeitgeist but set trends.

The name Nortier honors Adrien’s French nationality but the team, still based in the heart of Hampshire, reflects a unique Anglo-French sensibility.
